My story…
The story begins with a strange feeling, deep within the core of her being. A calling so deep it took Mikaeli across the world, to a land where Sages and Rishi’s have lived thousands of years all with the same goal, understanding our true nature. Without even questioning, Mikaeli packed her bags half full as she new that the destination she was going to arrive in was not only going to fill her bag with new colours and patterns, but she left space for new stories and characters to flow into her life. She was on a pilgrimage to rediscover her Dharma, her duty in this world after being so clueless for so long. The key to that was through the ancient and spiritual practices of Yoga which where brought to light along her journey through Nepal.
Nepal, the humble country at the top of the world, was just the beginning for her journey. The country left marks on her spirit so deep she could never image to depart it. A country full of colour, culture, love and light. A country which lead her down wandering paths in foggy woods, climbing over the snow capped mountains of the Himalayas. A country that most importantly, allowed her mind to rest knowing her soul was at peace. An environment so rich, it allowed Mikaeli to dive deep into the practice of Yoga. She completed her 500 Hour Teacher Training course in Pokhara, Nepal in the very early months of 2020 but this was only a taste to what was really about to come. Lockdowns around the world had left her with two options, return to Australia to a place where her spark had been lost in the dark or remain in a place where her soul shined like the suns rays beaming through the morning clouds. She spent the year of 2020 surrendering to what the universe has laid out on the table and remained in Nepal, away from family, away from the familiar, unaware of where the path was leading her. What a better way to embody the teachings of yoga than to let everything go that was no longer serving you, even if you aren’t sure of what’s to come. Yoga was not only found in her daily practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, but it was found on the travels and connections she made with people from all over the world into the deepest and highest parts of Nepal. It was not until she witnessed the silence of the mountains that she understood the true meaning of life.
Mikaeli found peace in practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa, pranayama and meditation on a daily basis. She learned from a wonderful teacher who was so humble, so kind and so generous to share what he has learned. She learnt many things from many other spiritual souls and teachers who were happy to share their knowledge on topics such as philosophy, mantra and chanting. These teachings were just the start of a very deep journey that lead her to Mysore, the birth city of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Mikaeli now practicing under the teachings of R. Sharath Jois, the lineage holder of the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition. She travels there every year to learn and be advised from him.
Life is a continuous lesson and we must forever be the student. Mikaeli now travels around teaching at various schools with her aim to show students the power the wonderful practices of yoga can have on our mind, body and soul. She is passionate about the truth that just by simply having devotion and determination to these practices, her students can too ignite the fire within their soul and find their Dharma.
